CHICAGO -- A day after the Bears' 23-20 loss to the Detroit Lions, marked by clock management issues that derailed a potential comeback, head coach Matt Eberflus remains at the helm, maintaining his regular routine.
Eberflus confirmed he held his usual "debrief" with general manager Ryan Poles and team president/CEO Kevin Warren after the game and plans to meet with them again on Friday. "I’m focused on wrapping up the evaluation of this game and preparing for San Francisco," Eberflus said. "I’m confident I’ll be working on the game plan for the 49ers."
Following their Thursday game, Bears players received the weekend off, per team protocol. Eberflus noted that he has already spoken to several players and plans to connect with more. Coaches will analyze the loss throughout the weekend, with the full team set to reconvene Monday.
Eberflus faced heavy criticism for running out the clock in the final 32 seconds while holding one timeout. Quarterback Caleb Williams was sacked for a 6-yard loss on a designed run, leaving the Bears unable to snap the ball until 6 seconds remained.
