Crystal Palace Shocks Manchester City to Win Historic FA Cup Final

Crystal Palace claimed its first-ever major trophy on Saturday, defeating Manchester City 1-0 in a stunning FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

Eberechi Eze scored the only goal of the match in the 16th minute, capping off a swift counterattack orchestrated by Jean-Philippe Mateta and full-back Daniel Muñoz. Eze calmly slotted the ball into the far corner, sending Palace fans into jubilation.

Despite dominating possession and chances, Manchester City failed to find the net. Their best opportunity came from the penalty spot after Tyrick Mitchell fouled Bernardo Silva, but Omar Marmoush’s effort was brilliantly saved by Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

The second half saw relentless pressure from City, but Palace’s resolute defense—anchored by Henderson’s heroics—kept them at bay. When the final whistle blew, Crystal Palace made history and handed Pep Guardiola his first trophyless season since 2016–17.

“It’s special,” said Eze, overwhelmed with emotion. “I don’t even know what to say.”

Palace entered the match as heavy underdogs against a Manchester City side that has dominated English football in recent years. But under manager Oliver Glasner, they defied expectations and secured not just a trophy—but also qualification for European competition next season.

“Eze is incredible,” said defender Chris Richards. “He does things on the pitch nobody else would even think of.”

For Crystal Palace fans, this is a night they’ll never forget—and one that will echo through the club’s history.
