Dejan Kulusevski Undergoes Knee Surgery Ahead of Europa League Final
Tottenham forward Dejan Kulusevski has undergone surgery on his right knee following an injury sustained in Spurs' recent Premier League loss to Crystal Palace. Despite the setback, the club has not ruled the 25-year-old out for the rest of the season and confirmed he will begin rehabilitation immediately with their medical staff.
Kulusevski, who recently returned from a foot injury, played a key role in helping Tottenham secure their spot in the Europa League final with wins over Eintracht Frankfurt and Bodo/Glimt. This season, he has registered 10 goals and 11 assists across 50 appearances.
In an emotional message shared on Instagram after his surgery, Kulusevski wrote:
"For the people that I gave joy this year, thank you. I appreciate you and I love you. I pray for you. Don’t be sad, we will be back and we coming for everybody."
Tottenham are preparing for their Europa League final clash with Manchester United in Bilbao next Wednesday. Despite recent injury blows, including the absences of James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall, the return of captain Heung-Min Son has provided a boost for manager Ange Postecoglou.
Speaking about Son’s comeback, Postecoglou said:
"From a physical standpoint, he is good. It was important for him to get minutes yesterday. We’ve still got over a week to build him up. He’s been a big catalyst this season."
Meanwhile, Brennan Johnson had a minor injury scare in training after a collision with teammate Sergio Reguilon but is expected to be fine.
Son, still chasing his first major trophy with Spurs after 10 years at the club, expressed his determination to lead the team to European glory.
"It feels like I’ve been missing that one most important final piece. I really want to win – more than anyone else. I believe we can achieve it."
