Frimpong ‘Agrees’ to Liverpool Move – But No Contact Made Yet, Reports Say
Today’s Main Liverpool FC Headline
As Liverpool players unwind in Dubai and new manager Arne Slot enjoys some downtime in Ibiza, behind the scenes, the rumor mill surrounding Jeremie Frimpong is heating up.
Multiple German outlets, including kicker, are reporting that Frimpong is “on the verge” of a move to Anfield, with talks said to be nearing a “successful conclusion.” The Dutch right-back, currently with Bayer Leverkusen, is reportedly keen on the transfer.
However, not everything lines up. Sky Germany’s Patrick Berger reports that Liverpool have yet to make formal contact with Leverkusen. That suggests a deal is not quite as imminent as some headlines may claim.
The 24-year-old does have a £30 million release clause, which could simplify negotiations, though the structure of the deal—such as payment installments—remains a sticking point.
At this stage, it’s safe to say Frimpong wants the move, Liverpool want the player, and the deal feels likely, but we’re still in the preliminary phase of negotiations.
