"Fragile, Frail, and Weak" – Man City’s Defensive Struggles Persist

Pep Guardiola described his Manchester City team as "fragile," while pundits labeled them "weak" and "frail" after squandering a 3-0 lead against Feyenoord in the Champions League at the Etihad Stadium.

Instead of heading to Liverpool with a confidence-boosting victory, the Premier League champions now face their title rivals at Anfield on Sunday, surrounded by fresh doubts about their defensive solidity following a frustrating 3-3 draw.

This result marked the sixth consecutive match in all competitions where City conceded two or more goals—a streak not seen since May 1963. Even more concerning, they seem to have lost their ability to close out games, even from commanding positions.

When Erling Haaland made it 3-0 in the 53rd minute, City appeared to be cruising toward their first win after five consecutive defeats. Yet, in a shocking collapse, the reigning European champions allowed Feyenoord to claw back and were met with boos from their own fans at full time.

"They look weak, they look light, they look frail," remarked former England captain Alan Shearer, speaking to Amazon Prime. "Even with two minutes left and a 3-2 lead, they took a quick free-kick. Why? Kill the game. They were in such a comfortable position."
